“What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Approach:

My approach is to form an alliance with you to discover your own strengths and weaknesses. Sometimes it is hard to recognize them in the middle of strife. To do that I will need to get to know you, listen and then help you identify goals for yourself. I do believe there are many roads to get to your goal and that no road is right or wrong. Life is a journey and sometimes we need to
explore. I use Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Motivational interviewing primarily as well as education to help you make choices for your life. I will help guide you in the journey of life and not give you answers that may not work for you, even if they work for someone else. We are all unique individuals and need to make choices for ourselves.

Experience:

I initially started my counseling career at a faith-based counseling center and worked with children and families. I then worked in various outpatient mental health clinics for 15 years. I then worked in a couple different substance abuse clinics for 10 years and received by substance abuse credentials. For the past 10 years I have blended the two specialties together of substance abuse and mental health. Sometimes they overlap and sometimes they do not. I enjoy working with adults now as time as gone by, both young and old. College students starting and struggling with life as well as older adults who may be having difficulties.

Education:

I have a Masters degree in counseling from Central Michigan University. I continue to earn Continuing Education Credits to maintain my licenses:
